About Title 1

Battlefield Primary School

Title I School Status Report to Parents

It is the philosophy of Catoosa County Schools to provide quality instruction through highly qualified teachers and paraprofessionals to our students.  We work to meet this requirement by hiring teachers who are certified in their area of instruction or are actively involved in the testing and evaluation process of obtaining this certification.  Paraprofessionals must meet State requirements for licensure and professional development. All the teachers and paraprofessionals at BPS are highly qualified. Should a teacher or paraprofessional leave during the year, we will send you a newsletter keeping you updated about their status.

Each year our sister school, Battlefield Elem., takes the state assessment (Georgia Milestones) to measure academic performance. The state of Georgia measures all primary schools by how their former students perform in 3rd grade.  We are proud to announce that Battlefield Primary and Battlefield Elem. have not been identified as a “Priority”, “Focus” or “Alert” school.  We are considered in good academic standing. Our academic focus this year will continue to be on reading and math.

We appreciate the support you have given to our school.  Our mission is to be a professional learning community, where excellence is expected from staff and students, every day.. Please make plans to give us your input on how to make our school a great place to learn through one of our Title I activities this year.

If you have any question concerning school status, please contact me through email (via BPS web page) or at 706-861-5778.

    Mr. Geoff Rhodes

What is Title 1?

Title I is a program that provides additional funding to schools with the ultimate goal to improve student achievement. Title I funding is provided based upon the percentage of students participating in the free and reduced-price lunch program. Title I funds can be used for additional personnel, such as interventionists, technology, and various teaching resources to help meet student needs. Parental input is welcomed and encouraged regarding decisions on how to spend Title I funds. Please click HERE to find our annual Title I meeting minutes for the 2019-2020 school year.

At Battlefield Primary School we have a full-time Title I Parent Coordinator, Mrs. Cherry Stephenson. Head over to the “Parent and Family Engagement” tab to find out how you can volunteer and get involved at BPS.  Each year, a Parent and Family Engagement plan is created. Please click HERE to find the plans for the 2019-20 school year.

Additionally, a family-school compact is created each year. This agreement is signed by school administrators, teachers, parents or guardians, and students. Please click here to view the Parent-Family compacts for the 2019-2020 school year.
